Developer doinksoft announced that Dark Scrolls is officially releasing on June 22. This fantasy-themed action platformer features shmup-style chaos and combines it with roguelite progression. It's a game that's packed with charm, challenge, and secrets.
The game invites players on a quest with one of the worthy yet quirky heroes in solo or cooperative play. They'll need to hack, slash, and dodge their way across hordes of enemies. They and deadly traps in procedurally generated runs of hand-crafted rooms and levels using each hero's unique attacks and abilities to your advantage.
Speaking of heroes, there are nine of them to choose and each comes with unique skills and side objectives. Players can even customize customizable trinkets that can change gameplay.
To survive, players need to have sharp reflexes while at the same time make split-second decisions. This is important especially as the intensity increases on each run. Aside from the branching paths and the unrelenting bosses that need to be defeated, there are always new surprises. They'll need to collect coins during their adventure and use them at Bruce & Goose's Shoppe. They can buy new perks, devastating attacks, and summoned allies. Those able to stack them properly can release those screen-filling destruction of arcade legend. By the way, players need to keep an eye out for secrets among the chaos. After all, the land holds many mysteries with new paths and locations, new heroes to rescue and add to the roster, and more.
